What you need to know about overdrafts and your debit card.
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction. Currently Savannah Bank, NA offers two different ways to cover overdrafts.
- Standard Overdraft Practices that comes with your account
- Overdraft Protection Plans, such as a link to a savings account or an Overdraft Line of Credit
We currently do not authorize and pay an overdraft for ATM or everyday debit card transaction unless you ask us to.

Transaction Account Guarantee Program
Savannah Bank NA is participating in the FDICs Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2009, all noninterest -bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from coverage available under the FDICs general deposit insurance rules.
